About Us - In the Beginning
Deeside Netball Club is one of the oldest and largest netball clubs in North-East Wales for girls and women. With 24 teams from the age of 7 upwards, our membership numbers 300+.
The club is affiliated to both The Welsh Netball and England Netball governing bodies to give players as many opportunities as possible to enhance their playing abilities.
Our top Adult teams play NEWNL 1st Division Netball. The first team is never out of the top three in any local leagues and we have several other adult teams in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th divisions too.
Our Juniors have held the titles of U11, U14 and U17 Welsh Inter-Clubs Champions & will be working hard to become Welsh Champions again this year.
The Flintshire County U14, U16 and U18 teams consist of a good number of Deeside Club players. The North-East Wales squads, at all levels, including U21 and Open Squads, Regional Academy, and National Academy are also well represented by Deeside players. This year for the first year of the Welsh National League, Deeside players have played a major part of the squad.
Since the club was established in 1979 there has never been a season of non-representation at county level, we have at least 30 Deeside players who have represented Wales, and we boast at least 5 Welsh Team Captains!
Our Junior Head Coach, Merle Hamilton, is an ex-Welsh National Coach and has been the Welsh Netball Association President - amongst other roles on the board.
The Club has a very hard working committee which considers the requirements of all club members. Assistance is given to all members who wish to achieve excellence within the sport of netball - including playing, coaching and umpiring.
As a Club, we are always trying to achieve a high profile so that young players in the area have role models, a hobby, and a sport that they can enjoy for a lifetime. We hope that you find our club of interest and look forward to welcoming you to Deeside Netball Club.
Deeside Netball Club Committee
The committee organises and runs all club business through the year during both the netball and non-netball seasons. Members are elected annually at the AGM and meet monthly to discuss club matters. All meetings are minuted and any club member is able to attend a meeting and request copies of those minutes. All Team Managers and, in Adult Club, Captains are required to attend Committee meetings.
